Exports continue to lead the recovery of traffic in the Port of Barcelona, reflecting the effort being made by the industries in its hinterland. Although between January and September of this year the total container traffic has been 2.06 million TEU (-19%) -improving the results of the previous months- the percentage is only -8.8% in the case of full import and export containers, the figure that more accurately reflects the evolution of the country’s economy and which also continues to improve month by month.
In this sense, it should also be noted that the full export containers during this month of September have exceeded the figures for the same month of 2019. This positive data is especially relevant because, for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, the Port of Barcelona has achieved export figures before the crisis.
